Population growth and industrial activities have affected fish habitat. Concerned about the need for more community involvement in integrated watershed management and stream restoration, SEHAB sponsored symposiums and workshops. One result was the formation of the successful Streamkeepers Program. Volunteers are trained in all aspects of stream inventory, restoration and protection, promoting a sense of community ownership and stewardship.
