Introducing children to the significance and delicate nature of the resource is the best way to ensure their respect of it. To date, thousands of students have participated in such diverse activities as the classroom salmon incubation program (which gives students the opportunity to see first hand the life cycle of salmon), fry release into local streams, storm drain marking, Streamkeepers Program, etc. SEHAB promotes strong educational programs such as: (newly revised) Salmonids in the Classroom - Primary and Intermediate, Table Talk, Fish in the Floodlights, Salmon Below the Surface, Watershed Works, Gently Down the Stream, as well as numerous displays, posters, board and computer games. Many of these very popular programs have since been copied by several jurisdictions in North America, and have recently undergone extensive revisions to ensure they remain relevant to BC curriculum.
