The value of volunteers to SEP was clear very early in the program, but they needed leadership and expertise to focus efforts. FOC supported SEHAB's recommendations and created the position of Community Advisor to act as a departmental liason and provide direction and support for volunteers.
Community advisors are assigned to strategic locations throughout the Province and have become probably the most important resource to the volunteers in these communities. Recognizing the importance of providing resources to volunteers, FOC has recently created new positions to work even closer with community groups.
